About the position

The Monrovia Preschool English Teacher is responsible for implementing the Tzu Chi Bilingual/Character Education curriculum and designing engaging lesson plans and activities for preschool children. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and classroom assignments, as well as maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children. The teacher will work closely with bilingual teachers and the Preschool Director to ensure compliance with licensing procedures and health guidelines while fostering professional communication with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Tzu Chi Bilingual/Character Education curriculum and design lesson plans and activities for preschool children.
  • Follow lesson plans and curriculum activities scheduled for that day.
  • Maintain State Licensed ratio at all times.
  • Arrive to work at the scheduled time and be flexible with changing hours as needed.
  • Monitor and supervise children indoors and outdoors at all times.
  • Maintain headcount sheets and daily attendance for safety reasons.
  • Establish proper and professional communication with staff members and parents.
  • Maintain age-appropriate interaction with children at all times.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all volunteers.
  • Comply with Tzu Chi dress code policy.
  • Attend all Tzu Chi meetings and training consistently.
  • Be responsible for classroom decoration and setting for a better learning environment.
  • Work with Bilingual Teachers to implement Tzu Chi Bilingual/Character Education and Humanity Program.
  • Follow all licensing procedures in the classroom.
  • Be aware of health and safety guidelines in the classroom.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children's information.
  • Keep accurate information regarding the progress of the children.
  • Work with the Preschool Director as needed.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
  • Inform the Preschool Director by 6:00 am if unable to attend work due to illness.

Requirements

  • Experience in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of bilingual education and character education principles.
  • Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans for preschool children.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with staff, parents, and children.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and classroom assignments.
  • Understanding of health and safety guidelines in a preschool setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children's information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a bilingual preschool environment.
  • Familiarity with Tzu Chi educational programs or similar methodologies.
