About the position

LePort Montessori, part of the Spring Education Group, is seeking a passionate Montessori Float Assistant Teacher to join our team at our Irvine, California location. This full-time position is integral to our Early Childhood Education Division, which encompasses nearly 150 schools across the nation, offering services from infant care through Pre-K/K programs, as well as summer camp and after-school programs. Our educational approach is diverse, drawing from the expertise of renowned educators such as Dewey, Piaget, and Vygotsky, and includes accredited Montessori methods and progressive language immersion programs in Mandarin and Spanish. As a Montessori Float Assistant Teacher, you will guide students in meaningful work while providing a prepared environment that facilitates student-led learning and freedom with responsibility. You will be part of a community that believes in a holistic approach to Montessori education, combining academics, practical life, sensorial exercises, and mixed-age groups. This role requires a commitment to upholding the educational standards established by Maria Montessori over 114 years ago, fostering a culture of care, grace, courtesy, and respect. The position is year-round, Monday through Friday, and offers a pay range of $17.00 to $18.50 per hour. The successful candidate must clear a criminal background check, be at least 18 years old, and possess a minimum of a high school diploma along with early childhood education units. Previous teaching experience is preferred, and compliance with state education and licensing standards is required. This role involves various physical activities, including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting, and requires clear vision and hearing abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing the Montessori curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Support students in their learning and development by providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that promotes student engagement.
  • Help prepare materials and resources for classroom activities and lessons.
  • Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Early Childhood Education units (6 core or more) required.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Must successfully clear a criminal background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Complies with all state education and licensing standards and maintains validation of credentials.

Nice-to-haves
