About the position

The Montessori Preschool Assistant Teacher at Centennial Montessori is responsible for supporting the Head Guide and Director in delivering a developmentally appropriate educational program for young children. This role emphasizes creating a warm, safe, and engaging environment that fosters children's growth and exploration, while adhering to Montessori methods and techniques. The Assistant Teacher will interact with children, assist in planning activities, supervise health and safety, and maintain communication with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each child and family by name in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing daily activities related to the curriculum.
  • Supervise the health, welfare, and safety of the children.
  • Oversee all mealtime/snack time activities.
  • Assist in maintaining developmental records for each child, including observations of skills.
  • Take photographs and samples of children's artwork and writing.
  • Maintain good communication with parents, Head Guide, and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to foster a positive team atmosphere.
  • Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Guide or Director.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Sensitivity to individual children's differences and needs, with a willingness to adjust the program accordingly.
  • Motivation to learn and grow in an educational environment, with a commitment to increasing knowledge in Early Childhood Education.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and courteously with parents.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and share ideas.
  • Compliance with Colorado state requirements for Early Childhood Teacher Assistant.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (Preferred)
  • 1 year of relevant experience (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
