About the position

The Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten Teaching Assistant position is a part-time role focused on supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a Montessori setting. The assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to foster a nurturing environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of students while promoting their independence and learning through hands-on activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain caring relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Support the work of the teacher by assisting with projects, programs, and planning.
• Work with individual and small groups of students in the classroom and playground.
• Share in the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the students at all times.
• Keep students under auditory and visual supervision.
• Assist in the care of classroom, playground, and teaching materials.
• Help maintain current and accurate classroom records.
• Attend staff meetings and training as requested.

Requirements

• Must be able to meet all WA State licensing requirements.
• Background check with fingerprints.
• Stars ID.
• TB test.
• CPR & First Aid & BBP certification.
• Food Handlers permit.
• Child care basics class completion.
• Immunization requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 certificate.
• CDA or ECE degree.
