About the position

The Mortgage Banker at S&T Bank is responsible for generating new business leads and originating mortgage loans by interviewing potential customers and completing applications. This role involves building relationships with realtors, builders, and other centers of influence to promote S&T products and deliver exceptional customer service throughout the mortgage process.

Responsibilities

• Generate new mortgage loan business by calling on Realtors, builders, and other centers of influence.
• Originate mortgage loans by interviewing potential customers and completing applications.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and respond quickly to customer inquiries.
• Maintain communication with processors and underwriters regarding loan status.
• Monitor market area for interest rates and products, assisting in product development and marketing efforts.
• Attend networking events to promote mortgage services and build relationships.
• Perform construction inspections on new properties as needed.
• Submit completed application packages to Retail Mortgage Lending for processing within 24 hours.
• Refer mortgage customers to the retail bank for additional services.
• Follow up on information and documentation required for processing and closing conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent basic academic education required.
• NMLS certification and annual maintenance required to originate loans.
• A minimum of two to five years of general business experience required.
• Strong knowledge and sales background in mortgage origination.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the mortgage industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with S.A.F.E. Act regulations and compliance.
