About the position
The Mortgage Loan Closer is responsible for ensuring that all mortgage loans are scheduled, closed, booked, and funded accurately and efficiently. This role involves verifying compliance with federal and state regulations, managing loan documentation, and providing exceptional service to members throughout the closing process. The position requires strong relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to enhance member experiences and streamline processes.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze mortgage loan documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify loan details for compliance with SLFCU guidelines and federal/state regulations.
- Ensure proper Closing Disclosures are provided to members in accordance with TRID and RESPA guidelines.
- Prepare closing documents and perform pre-funding quality control.
- Book and fund loan transactions and submit closing packages to Loan Services.
- Provide superior member service by actively listening and anticipating member needs.
- Assist team with complex closing issues and serve as a resource for less experienced team members.
- Participate in the development and improvement of department procedures and processes.
- Serve as back-up to other closers in their absence.
Requirements
- Minimum three years' direct experience with real estate loans.
- Associate's degree or completion of a specialized course in real estate or related field desired.
- Thorough knowledge of real estate lending processes, regulations, and terminology.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn third-party software.
