About the position

The Mortgage Loan Closer/Funder is responsible for ensuring the timely closing and funding of mortgage transactions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills, who can effectively manage time and interact professionally with clients, employees, and vendors. The position involves preparing closing documents, verifying their accuracy, managing timelines, and coordinating with various parties to facilitate the closing process.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare closing documents accurately and efficiently and issue to title companies.
  • Verify accuracy and consistency of specifications on documents and compliance reports, and work with loan officers and processors to remedy discrepancies before closing docs are released.
  • Manage a timeline on all assigned files, following up with appropriate parties as necessary.
  • Audit final executed docs for accuracy and completion of signatures and dates by all parties to the transaction.
  • Work with title companies and internal staff to clear outstanding conditions and balance wire amount - issue funding authorization as appropriate.
  • Prepare and issue post-consummation CDs as necessary.
  • Coordinate wire transfer from warehouse line to title company, ship collateral, and prepare files for post-close department.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mortgage closing and funding.
  • Knowledge of current RESPA, TILA and TRID guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of Encompass LOS.
  • Strong understanding of closing policies and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented, dependable, efficient and able to handle competing priorities effectively within established timeframes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with employees, clients and vendors - must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Punctual, motivated, positive and hard working with an ability to embrace change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience with secondary market mortgage products and pricing, processing, underwriting and post-close requirements.
