About the position

The position is responsible for closing residential mortgage loans to ensure compliance with bank, investor, and secondary market standards. The role requires the successful use of critical thinking and analytical skills to close loans, as well as the development and maintenance of a strong understanding of Mortgage Lending products, policies, processes, and their requirements. Key responsibilities include the preparation of accurate closing documents and instructions, completing all required steps for funding, and ensuring consistent communication with settlement agents or attorneys to facilitate timely closings. The position also involves proactive pipeline management to meet metrics and adherence to compliance regulations and controls. Building positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, business partners, and vendors is essential, as is cultivating relationships as a peer mentor.

Responsibilities

  • Close residential mortgage loans ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Prepare accurate closing documents and instructions including ICD, PCD, and Final Closing Disclosure.
  • Complete all required steps for funding and prepare accurate wire requests.
  • Communicate consistently with settlement agents/attorneys to ensure timely closings.
  • Conduct proactive pipeline management to meet metrics.
  • Adhere to compliance regulations and controls.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Cultivate relationships with peers as a peer mentor.

Requirements

  • Four years or more experience as a mortgage closer.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in mortgage automated processing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of bank services and products.
  • FHA/VA/Bond mortgage closing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training.
