About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant is responsible for reviewing loan applications and documentation, submitting loan files to processing, and providing the highest level of customer service to our customers. Under the guidance of the Loan Officer, the assistant may perform telemarketing to increase sales, build relationships with customers and real estate brokers, and meet with customers to quote mortgage rates.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in residential lending, including processing, closing, funding, or shipping preferred.
  • NMLS registration required.
  • Working knowledge of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA/VA, and USDA guidelines.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and company staff.
  • Analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of loan processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and shipping preferred.
  • Computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Sends/receives Loan Applications and disclosures to/from clients.
  • Reviews all GFE's and TIL for compliance with RESPA and Company Compliance.
  • Reviews applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Reviews client documentation including pay stubs, W-2's, tax returns, bank statements, and other relevant documents.
  • Runs AUS in case primary documentation is different from initial application.
  • Prepares File Submission Checklist.
  • Assists the Loan Processor in ordering verification forms.
  • Orders credit reports and appraisals and sends out verification forms.
  • Conducts regular follow-ups with outside sources for outstanding documents.
  • Updates Realtors and Loan Officer on file status.
  • Maintains communication with applicants throughout the processing period.
  • Monitors incoming mail for information verifying the date collected by loan officers.
  • Performs telemarketing to increase sales and build relationships.
  • Notifies borrowers and realtors of underwriting decisions.
  • Works with Compliance to prepare Adverse Action Notices.
  • Submits loan file and works with assigned Processor to clear conditions.
  • Maintains pipeline of all loans in process and tracks their progress.
  • Reviews rate locks to ensure pricing is correct.
  • Ensures that rate locks do not expire or are extended as required.
  • Maintains record of all loans in process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
