About the position

The Mortgage Loan Officer at Firestone Premier Members Credit Union is responsible for originating mortgage loans and developing referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other sources to meet specific loan volume origination goals. This role involves taking applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and ensuring compliance with various regulations while providing excellent service to both new and established members.

Responsibilities

  • Originates mortgage loans and assists members with the loan application process.
  • Develops referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other sources to solicit business.
  • Conducts preliminary underwriting reviews and submits loan applications to processing.
  • Provides excellent service to both new and established members throughout the loan process.
  • Completes loan applications, inputs fees, and generates loan disclosures in accordance with TRID guidelines.
  • Collects and analyzes prospective clients' credit, liabilities, income, and assets to determine credit worthiness.
  • Orders and understands residential appraisal reports and prices and locks loans accordingly.
  • Completes HMDA on adverse loans and manages mortgage loan deadlines to ensure compliance with purchase contracts and closing dates.
  • Maintains consistent communication with members and operations staff, providing counsel and customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with potential new business referral partners and community relationships.
  • Participates in ongoing training classes and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage lending experience.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and FannieMae/FreddieMac rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with conventional and government mortgage loan programs (FHA/VA/USDA) and guidelines.
  • Proficient in Encompass LOS and understanding of regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work without supervision, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
