As a Mortgage Loan Officer I/II at Navy Federal Credit Union, you will play a crucial role in interviewing and counseling members regarding first mortgage loans. Your primary responsibility will be to take mortgage loan applications and establish a personal relationship with members, guiding them through the entire mortgage loan process from the initial application to the closing. You will assess applicants' qualifications and provide detailed information about Navy Federal's mortgage and equity loan products, clarifying the complexities of the mortgage and equity loan processes. Additionally, you will evaluate, personalize, and recommend financing alternatives to meet the unique needs of each member. In this position, you will also be responsible for building and maintaining referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other centers of influence. You will analyze referred loans for areas of concern and determine the appropriate course of action, such as obtaining explanations for derogatory credit. It is essential to advise members on approved loan conditions and documentation requirements while ensuring the progress and inclusion of required mortgage processing information, including verifications of employment, assets, income, and liabilities, as well as appraisal reports and compliance with Navy Federal and investor requirements. Maintaining contact with members, realtors, and sellers throughout the loan process is vital, as is monitoring the mortgage loan process to ensure compliance with federal laws and Navy Federal's guidelines. You will be expected to remain available to members and their real estate agents during scheduled evening hours and on weekends, as needed. Your role will also involve responding to inquiries about mortgage applications, processing status, and resolving any issues that may arise during the application process. You will take first mortgage loan applications through face-to-face interviews, mail, and telephone, and will be responsible for reviewing applications for completeness and accuracy, determining if additional information or supporting documentation is required.
