DFCU Financial is looking for Mortgage Loan Officers for the Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, MI areas to join our team. In this role, the Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for all requirements in the originating of mortgage applications for the DFCU portfolio and saleable loans to the secondary market. This position involves maintaining relationships with the local real estate community, offering information on our products and services, and proactively networking to generate business. As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will work closely with borrowers to recommend a course of action based on their goals, whether it be pre-approval, refinancing, or purchasing a property. You will respond to inquiries from borrowers both inside and outside the office, accepting applications in person, by phone, or online. Additionally, you will review borrower-supplied documentation to ensure it meets requirements before sending it to the processing center. You will also assist the processing team with borrower interactions as needed and may be called upon to train less experienced employees. Participation in business development efforts for the Mortgage Services department and attendance at local Board of Realtors functions will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years current experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer with annual production levels exceeding $8 million.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage regulations and secondary market requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Consistent positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • May require some evening and Saturday hours.
