About the position

The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for the ongoing development of mortgage loan production, which includes disseminating loan products, pricing, and various lending requirements to borrowers, realtor groups, and other related parties. The role involves interviewing borrowers to gather necessary information for originating loans and ensuring timely processing, underwriting, and closing of individual loan requests.

Responsibilities

• Interview borrowers and gather specific information necessary to originate loans.
• Provide timely processing, underwriting, and closing of individual loan requests.
• Promote mortgage programs to realtors and other group organizations.
• Maintain industry/product knowledge necessary for dissemination to the general public.
• Pre-qualify potential applicants and complete loan applications.
• Input loan applications into various software systems.
• Obtain necessary documentation and analyze credit issues and DTI ratios with customers.
• Assist with processing and closing of mortgage loans as needed.
• Keep borrowers informed of processing and closing events of their loan files.
• Work with assigned branches to provide information, training, and direction regarding mortgage loan products and programs.
• Be an active member of the local board of realtors and attend realtor luncheons.
• Volunteer for various committees and attend trade shows, home shows, and open houses as required.
• Maintain active membership in the Chamber of Commerce and other related functions.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mortgage loan origination lending background is required.
• Knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA preferred, with experience in related AUS a plus.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Professional demeanor in appearance, interpersonal relations, work ethic, and attitude.
• Developed oral and written communication skills.
