About the position

As a Mortgage Loan Originator (Loan Officer) at US Mortgage Corporation, you will play a crucial role in the mortgage lending process by directly soliciting, originating, and supervising mortgage loans from application to closing on behalf of the company's customers. Your responsibilities will include negotiating and counseling applicants regarding loan interest rates and ensuring that all loans are processed in compliance with the company's policies, federal, state, and local laws, as well as investor guidelines. You will be expected to maintain a thorough understanding of the mortgage products offered and provide clients with the most appropriate financing options, ensuring that they are not steered towards products based solely on maximizing compensation. In addition to originating loans, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining client referral relationships with previous clients, realtors, accountants, financial planners, builders, and developers to foster new business opportunities and retain existing clients. You will also be tasked with researching, developing, and implementing innovative marketing strategies to promote the company's services. It is essential to ensure that all documentation related to the loans is prepared, maintained, and stored in accordance with applicable laws and company policies, and that all advertising and marketing efforts receive prior approval from the company. You will need to communicate effectively with the company's Processing and Underwriting Department, ensuring that all information provided by applicants is collected and distributed appropriately. Additionally, you must inform the company of any events or concerns that may arise during the loan process, including complaints or investigations. Your role will require you to devote your productive time and skills exclusively to the business of the company, ensuring that you give your best efforts during your employment.

Responsibilities

  • Soliciting, originating, and supervising mortgage loans from application to closing.
  • Negotiating and counseling applicants about loan interest rates.
  • Researching, developing, and implementing marketing ideas.
  • Establishing and maintaining client referral relationships with realtors, accountants, and other professionals.
  • Collecting and distributing information provided by applicants to the Processing and Underwriting Department.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, federal, state, and local laws, and investor guidelines.
  • Preparing and maintaining proper documentation for loans.
  • Storing closed loan documents in the company's document storage system.
  • Ensuring all advertising and marketing is pre-approved by the company.
  • Advising borrowers of appropriate financing options without steering them based on compensation.
  • Devoting productive time and skills exclusively to the company's business.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mortgage Loan Originator or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products and lending processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and counseling skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local mortgage regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
