About the position
The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) at First Service Credit Union is responsible for providing professional mortgage services to members, focusing on financing real estate products secured by primary residential property. This role involves independent sales efforts, developing business relationships with referral sources, and assisting members with mortgage loan applications and processing.
Responsibilities
- Interview, process, and close mortgage loans by collecting appropriate documentation from each applicant.
- Deliver mortgage loan packages within the time frames set by management.
- Coordinate mortgage loan training and education for the staff.
- Work with marketing staff to develop mortgage loan promotions.
- Develop referral contacts including realtors, builders, and other professionals.
- Maintain knowledge of available loan products and processing procedures.
- Manage the pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
- Communicate with branches and/or applicants to provide timely updates and progress reports.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of similar or related experience in mortgage lending.
- A two-year college degree, completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or completion of an extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
- Knowledge of the secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage residential real estate lending.
- Proven track record of selling and servicing loans.
- Working knowledge of regulations affecting mortgage lending.
- Good communication skills and proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing software.
