Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Hybrid
Pay Range: $22-$35 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Overview:
We seek a detail-oriented and motivated Mortgage Underwriting Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide crucial administrative support to the underwriting team by reviewing documentation, assisting with loan processing, and ensuring compliance with industry guidelines. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in mortgage processing, loan origination, or underwriting looking to grow within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review collected documentation for compliance with NCUA, USPAP, and other relevant industry loan acceptance guidelines.
• Evaluate real estate contracts, including but not limited to age restrictions and HOA agreements.
• Collaborate closely with loan originators and processors to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all data collected for loan applications.
• Assist with basic underwriting functions, such as reviewing credit guideline denials and processing loan withdrawals.
• Work with Mortgage leadership and participate in mentoring sessions for Mortgage Processors, Closers, and Loan Officers.
• Maintain a task-driven workload, completing 20-30 daily assignments and managing a pipeline of up to 60 mortgage loans.
• Provide support in data entry and Excel-based tasks, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of recent experience in mortgage processing, loan origination, or underwriting.
• Exposure to mortgage underwriting policies, procedures, and industry terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle a high-volume workload and meet daily productivity goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good data entry skills.
• Lending experience and familiarity with property management or loan applications are preferred.
