About the position

The Mortgage Underwriter at Great Plains Bank is responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with agency and bank guidelines. This role involves analyzing financial documents and collaborating with loan processors and originators to facilitate smooth loan processing and approval. The position is integral to helping clients achieve homeownership while maintaining strong investor relations.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite mortgage loans including VA, FHA, RD, and Conventional loans according to guidelines.
• Analyze income, credit reports, and appraisals to determine loan eligibility.
• Collaborate with loan processors and originators to ensure efficient loan processing.
• Approve loans for closing once all requirements are met.
• Assist in maintaining investor relations and handling repurchase requests.

Requirements

• 5+ years of mortgage lending experience.
• 3 years of underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with DU, LP, GUS systems, and Encompass LOS.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves
