About the position

Chapel Hill Mother's Day Out and Preschool is seeking a caring and enthusiastic part-time teacher for their Mother's Day Out program, specifically for 2-3 year olds. This role involves fostering early development in a safe and nurturing environment, working with a maximum of 10 children alongside a co-teacher. The position is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood education and looking to contribute to a supportive team that values teachers and their contributions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the developmental needs of 2-3 year olds, focusing on age-appropriate activities such as play-based learning, arts and crafts, music, and early literacy.
• Provide a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that encourages learning and exploration.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, both in the classroom and on the playground.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing daily updates on the child's progress, activities, and any concerns.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Mother's Day Out and preschool programs.
• Foster positive social, emotional, and cognitive development in young children through nurturing care and guidance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with young children (2-3 years old) in a preschool or MDO setting, and experience working in a licensed childcare facility is strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Patience, flexibility, creativity, and a love for working with children
• Basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or required)
• All individuals are required to pass a National Fingerprint Background check.
