About the position

The Motion Design & Video Editor will lead video editing and motion design for the MU Health Care and University of Missouri School of Medicine in-house creative agency. This role involves collaborating closely with the Marketing and Communications team to create compelling stories across various video and content platforms, enhancing the brand's visibility and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop visual content, including graphics, animation, and video footage for various media platforms.
  • Review and analyze shooting scripts and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scene value and continuity.
  • Evaluate videos from various sources, splice film footage, and combine scenes to create a cohesive story.
  • Research audio, video, colors, animation, etc., and collaborate with the creative team for graphic design.
  • Combine visual footage with audio sound effects, dialogue, ambient sound, and a musical soundtrack to create emotion in the story.
  • Edit video footage and add effects and elements to enhance motion graphics, ensuring it matches the script and narrative agenda.
  • Use computer editing software programs, video switching devices, and digital video effects programs to assemble film components.
  • Create sound effects by recording specific audio clips or selecting audio effects from a database.
  • Discuss project timelines, narrative structure, and story goals with the creative team during the editing process.
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, film, video production, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects or related software.
