About the position

The Motion Design & Video Editor will lead video editing and motion design for MU Health Care and the University of Missouri School of Medicine's in-house creative agency. This role involves collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to create compelling visual content that tells stories across various platforms, including social media, websites, and broadcast video.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop visual content, including graphics, animation, and video footage for various media platforms.
  • Review and analyze shooting scripts and raw materials to create shot decision lists based on scene value and continuity.
  • Evaluate videos from various sources, splice film footage, and combine scenes to create cohesive stories.
  • Research audio, video, colors, and animation, collaborating with the creative team for graphic design.
  • Combine visual footage with audio sound effects, dialogue, ambient sound, and musical soundtracks to evoke emotion in the story.
  • Edit video footage and add effects to enhance motion graphics.
  • Evaluate edited footage to ensure it aligns with the script and narrative agenda.
  • Use computer editing software, video switching devices, and digital video effects programs to assemble film components.
  • Create sound effects by recording audio clips or selecting from a sound database.
  • Discuss project timelines, narrative structures, and story goals with the creative team during editing.
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, film, video production, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in video editing and motion design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects or related software.
