About The Position

The Motor Equipment Operator at Amtrak is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of locomotives and facilities, ensuring compliance with FRA, FDA, and Amtrak standards. This role involves performing various services on locomotives and equipment, maintaining shop cleanliness, and operating light cranes, tractors, and forklifts. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in manual labor.
• Successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to job.
• Valid driver's license required for locations where necessary to operate company vehicle and motorized equipment.
• Experience operating cranes, power tools, and hydraulic chain/sling rigging equipment preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of general/manual laborer duties.
• Ability to operate cranes, tractors, and forklifts.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate proficiently.
• Some computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform services on locomotives and equipment such as sanding, cleaning, washing, and scraping.
• Empty waste retention system, trash receptacles, and properly dispose of hazardous waste material in accordance with FDA/Amtrak standards and guidelines.
• Perform shop maintenance and functions as a motor equipment operator.
• Use and operate light cranes, tractors, forklifts, and similar equipment.
• Maintain shop/yard cleanliness.
• Maintain proper care and use of materials, equipment, machines, and hand tools normally associated with assigned job.
