About the position

The Motor Vehicle Mechanic position at ASRC Federal Broadleaf Division involves supporting the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower, GA. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The position is non-exempt and covered under the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act, with compensation based on prevailing wage rates set by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required.
  • Replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
  • Grinding and adjusting valves, rebuilding carburetors, overhauling transmissions, and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
  • Determining the general condition of vehicles or equipment and the extent of needed repairs using various diagnostic equipment.
  • Checking condition and replacing all fluids, coolants, and lubricants as needed.
  • Using hoists, hand tools, power tools, and power equipment for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining and cleaning tools and equipment, and performing general preventive maintenance as assigned.
  • Performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered generators and related equipment.
  • Conforming to all safe work practices and procedures, and keeping the work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • Four years' experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic in a recognized commercial or governmental repair program.
  • Full knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and repair gasoline and diesel-powered internal combustion engines, power trains, air and hydraulic brake systems, and other vehicular components.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and publications to interpret mechanical specifications, tolerance limits, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain applicable military driver's license within 30 days.
  • May require CDL endorsements for equipment/vehicles operated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with military vehicles or equipment.
  • Additional certifications related to automotive repair or maintenance.
