About the position

The Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the transportation of patients, staff, and materials using specially equipped vehicles. This role involves planning schedules, managing personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while providing essential transport services within the medical center and to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate means of transportation for patients, patient effects, employees, blood, and equipment.
• Plan and layout schedules for out-of-town trips for patient outings and employee training-related trips.
• Develop work schedules and assign personnel based on service needs.
• Administer facility drivers training for personnel required to check out government-owned vehicles.
• Coordinate work with other supervisors and determine the number and types of workers needed for specific projects.
• Review VA forms and daily logbook recordings to ensure mission objectives are met.
• Develop work standards, methods, and procedures for safe vehicle operation according to established driving requirements and regulations.
• Plan and establish overall leave schedules for personnel.
• Determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for their accomplishment.
• Set performance standards and conduct formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
• Initiate and manage a key control system for government-owned vehicles and authorized fuel cards.
• Serve as the section timekeeper for personnel time and attendance.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
• Demonstrated training or experience relevant to the duties of this position.

• Experience in a supervisory role within a transportation or logistics environment.
• Knowledge of VA regulations and GSA lease agreements.
