Motor Vehicle Operator

About the position

This position involves operating various types of vehicles, including straight-in-line trucks, tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers, and motor coaches, typically with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 32,000 pounds. The role requires connecting and disconnecting air brakes and electrical lines, maneuvering vehicles in tight spaces, and ensuring proper weight distribution during loading and unloading. Additionally, the operator will perform maintenance checks on the vehicles and may assist with materials handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operates straight-in-line trucks, tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers, and/or motor coaches.
• Connects and disconnects air brakes and electrical lines.
• Maneuvers vehicles in narrow or congested areas and positions vehicles at loading docks.
• Directs the arrangement of cargo for proper weight distribution and loading/unloading sequence.
• Performs operator maintenance tasks including checks on gasoline, oil, water, air pressure, steering gear, horn, and brakes.
• Completes trip tickets and fills out reports in case of accidents.
• May perform materials handling and packing duties.
• May operate material handling equipment such as forklifts.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must possess and maintain a PA Class-A Commercial Driver's License.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by federal, state, and local laws.
• Must be able to obtain and possess a Hazardous Materials Endorsement.
• Pre-Employment Physical is required.
• Moderate physical effort is required in operating vehicles and loading/unloading.
