About the position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. The position is located at Fort Detrick, MD, and is a full-time, permanent role with no promotion potential. The salary range for this position is $28.10 - $32.75 per hour, classified under pay scale WG 7. The job requires occasional travel (approximately 5%) and does not allow for telework or remote work. Responsibilities

• Operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically with gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 and up to 32,000 pounds.
• Drive one or more types of heavy vehicles which are typically equipped with air brakes.
• Operate heavy hand tools and power equipment.
• Load, unload, stack and carry materials.
• Operate pneumatic air driven jack hammer and equipment.

Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued Class-B commercial driver's license.
• Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision.
• Ability to drive safely and operate motor vehicles.
• Ability to interpret instructions and specifications related to mobile equipment operation.
• Ability to operate safely non-motor vehicles.
• Reliability and dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted and over 40 lbs. with assistance.
