Motorhand - Alaska

About the position

The Motorhand position at Nabors involves ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment used in drilling operations. This role is critical for preventing downtime and ensuring the continual functioning of equipment such as generators, engines, and compressors. The Motorhand works under the direction of the Rig Manager and is responsible for performing regular maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and providing support to other crew members.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular rounds to monitor equipment performance and condition.
• Anticipate potential problems and implement corrective actions to prevent issues.
• Ensure safe fuel and oil transfers in compliance with regulations.
• Assist the Mechanic with major repairs beyond personal expertise.
• Supervise and direct Floorhands and Derrickhand during rig operations.
• Provide relief on the drill floor for Floorhands, and when trained, for Derrickhand and Driller.
• Operate forklifts for equipment handling and relocation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months experience as a Floorhand for Nabors Drilling USA or 6 months experience as a Motorhand for another drilling company.
• Ability to successfully complete Motorhand training at the NDUSA training center.
• Ability to wear respiratory protective devices.
• Reliable transportation to and from the rig.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing diesel engines and mechanical devices.
