About The Position

The Motorsports Program Engineer - Sportscar at Ford Motor Company is responsible for supporting various motorsports programs, particularly in the sportscar category. This role involves interfacing with partners and customers, providing track-side support, and contributing to engineering development and testing. The engineer will also manage program timelines, assist in problem-solving, and develop tools to enhance team performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional motorsports environment
  • Detail oriented self-starter and problem solver
  • Possess a competitive spirit and interest in professional motorsports
  • Practical knowledge of race cars and sportscar competition
  • Strong leader with effective communication skills
  • Positive team player with the ability to work with multiple suppliers
  • Willingness for extensive travel, including weekends
  • Must hold or be eligible for a passport

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a professional motorsports environment
  • Vehicle development experience in vehicle dynamics or powertrain systems
  • Experience using logged data to improve track performance
  • Experience using Bosch Motorsport, Motec, Cosworth hardware and software
  • Experience setting up vehicle instrumentation
  • Knowledge and experience with GPIRS and Ariba/Aurora

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Ford Performance Motorsports partners and customers
  • Provide at-track support for GT3 and GT4 programs, both domestic and international
  • Support engineering development and testing
  • Conduct timing analysis and balance of performance
  • Assist in the creation of pre- and post-event metrics and reporting
  • Develop tools to support engineers, teams, and customers
  • Support internal and external purchasing for vehicle builds
  • Manage program timelines for homologation and development
  • Support prototype and production builds as needed
  • Lead problem-solving of issues to ensure rapid resolution
