About the position

The Movable Bridge Design Engineer position at M&M in Fort Lauderdale, FL focuses on the design and engineering of movable bridges. The role involves working on various projects that include new designs, inspections, and rehabilitations of existing structures. Engineers will collaborate with a team of professionals to apply innovative techniques and contribute to high-impact projects in the field of bridge engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks under supervision of experienced professionals.
  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Conduct limited structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using engineering software.
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and assist CAD technicians in creating contract plans.
  • Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from contract plans and review basic structural and shop drawings.
  • Provide information for design reports and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates should have a valid EI certification or be in the process of obtaining it.
  • Mid-level candidates should be within 6 months of obtaining a valid PE license.
  • Senior-level candidates should possess a valid PE license.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis design techniques, tools, and principles.
  • Basic knowledge of computer-assisted drafting and design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coursework in Bridge Design, Structural Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, and Finite Element Modeling.
