About the position

The Freelance Weekend News Self-Publisher for MovieWeb is responsible for editing and publishing a minimum of 8 movie and TV articles daily. This role focuses on content management, writer development, and ensuring that the publication meets its news output goals. The position requires active participation in writer communication and feedback, as well as ideation and sourcing of news topics.

Responsibilities

• Edit and publish a minimum of 8 movie/TV articles per day on the Movie/TV News team
• Assure there is content to be published and planned on current News topics
• Participate in writer development and general writer management
• Oversee and facilitate writer communication in Slack/Asana
• Send feedback to writers according to MovieWeb's standards (as per our writing guides)
• Work with new writers to develop their skills and help them adapt to MovieWeb's standards
• Work with existing writers to develop those suitable for internal development (staff writing, self-publishing, editing)
• Auditing Content Value and implementing best practices
• Ensure daily and monthly News output goals are met
• Ideation and news sourcing support
• Must be available weekends

Requirements

• Demonstrated breadth of knowledge of popular Movie/TV content
• Experience in editing and publishing articles
• Ability to manage and communicate with writers effectively
• Familiarity with tools like Slack and Asana
