About the position

This position involves providing social services to patients and families as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. The role focuses on delivering a range of treatment and rehabilitation activities tailored to the needs of the population served, ensuring comprehensive care and support.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as an integral professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a physician.
  • Facilitates therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit, when applicable.
  • Provides direct one-on-one age-specific psychotherapy services to patients when requested via specific program requirements.
  • Assists medical staff in determining appropriateness of services and receives referral for intervention.
  • Determines the developmental age of the patient and assists the treatment team in developing and implementing a treatment plan specific to developmental needs.
  • Assesses psychosocial needs, including high-risk indicators, and documents psychosocial history/assessment.
  • Correlates all assembled data on the psychosocial history in a clinically pertinent manner.
  • Performs continued-care planning with the treatment team from the first day of services.
  • Provides group therapy as deemed appropriate.
  • Acts as liaison for patients and their families to various community agencies, consultants, and services.
  • Records and charts all patient contacts as required.
  • Provides direct family therapy to patients and their families as directed by treatment planning and program requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate certification, licensure, and competency through supervision and/or training and successful completion of annual performance evaluations.
  • Attends continuing education seminars and in-services as necessary to maintain professional licensure and competency.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Licensure in a related field: LCSW, LICSW, LPC, or Licensed Psychologist.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.
  • AVADE training required within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced certification preferred when applicable.
  • Prior experience in behavioral health.
