About the position
The MRI Technologist II position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing a variety of routine to complex diagnostic MRI procedures, including both common and special MRI exams. This role is integral to the direct patient care team, requiring full competency in all aspects of MRI exams. The technologist serves as a mentor to less experienced staff and students, exercising sound judgment and clinical skills in challenging diagnostic situations while ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic MRI procedures including common and special MRI exams.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic or special MRI procedures, including maintaining sterile technique.
- Proactively assess and respond to patient needs to optimize care and image quality.
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members regarding procedures.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and infection control procedures during imaging procedures.
- Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges at the time of service.
- Participate in special projects and department initiatives for continual development.
Requirements
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for MRI technologists.
- Three years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
- ARRT-MR, ARMRIT, or CMRT certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate multiple computer systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in mentoring or teaching students and less experienced staff.
- Proficiency in advanced MRI techniques and procedures.
