About the position

The MRI Technologist PRN at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for performing MRI radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role requires independent judgment and initiative to ensure appropriate protocols for diagnosis are followed. The technologist will also be involved in patient care, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with medical staff to provide high-quality imaging services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI radiologic procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment.
  • Rotate emergency call status as needed.
  • Contact service engineers for assistance with system problems.
  • Maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel in the department.
  • Incorporate patient, physician, and customer needs into decision-making.
  • Transfer and position patients, including lifting when necessary.
  • Initiate and assist in Code Blue procedures when called.
  • Provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Operate computer systems for patient information and exam protocols.
  • Verify and transmit each exam to the PACs System for storage.
  • Participate in the training of MRI technologists.
  • Maintain adequate records of each procedure and patient examination.
  • Follow the AIDET model in patient interactions.
  • Attend a minimum of 50% of scheduled department meetings.
  • Operate the Cerner System and troubleshoot order problems.
  • Verify physician signed orders for MRI exams before testing.
  • Set up and maintain physiological monitoring equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare the procedure room and select proper equipment for each exam.
  • Administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Graduate of a Technical School.
  • National Registry ARRT certification.
  • ARRT Registered MRI certification.
  • BLS obtained through the American Heart Association.
