About the position

The MRI Staff Technologist at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by operating a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain high-quality images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. This position requires the technologist to work under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor and/or Director, ensuring that all imaging techniques are appropriate and effectively executed. The technologist is responsible for entering and monitoring patient data, as well as transferring images from disk to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This role is vital in providing accurate imaging that supports patient care and treatment decisions. In addition to technical skills, the MRI Staff Technologist must possess a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and 3-D imaging techniques. The position also involves physical demands such as manipulating equipment, lifting, moving, and transporting patients, which requires continual standing or walking. The technologist must be able to adapt to stressful situations, ensuring that patient care remains a top priority even in challenging circumstances. Responsibilities

  • Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain diagnostic images.
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques and operate console and peripheral hardware.
  • Enter and monitor patient data during imaging procedures.
  • Transfer images from disk to PACS for physician access.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or MRI Technologist Program with completed clinical hours.
  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT registry or Advanced register eligible (must achieve advanced registry within 18 months of eligibility).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience in MRI technology and capability as determined adequate for the position.
  • Technical skills in medical scanning and understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IV insertion.
  • Knowledge of 3-D imaging techniques.
