As an MRI Technologist Relief at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality MRI radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This position requires a technical level of expertise that does not necessitate constant supervision, allowing you to exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing MRI procedures and adhering to appropriate protocols for diagnosis. You will be responsible for designated areas or procedures as required, ensuring that each patient receives the best possible care in a supportive and compassionate environment. Your responsibilities will include rotating emergency call status, contacting GE/Phillips service engineers for assistance with system problems, and performing other related duties as deemed necessary by the Radiology Director. You will be expected to maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel to ensure the proper conduct of the department. Additionally, you will incorporate patient, physician, and customer needs into decision-making and organizational actions, which is essential for delivering whole-person care. In this role, you will also be responsible for transferring and positioning patients, which may involve lifting them as necessary. You will initiate and assist in Code Blue procedures when called upon and provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Operating the computer to input patient information and protocols for examinations is a key part of your duties, as is verifying and transmitting each exam to the PACs System for secure storage. You will participate in training new MRI technologists and maintain accurate records of each procedure performed, including health forms, medical symptoms, history, contraindications, and details about any contrast media administered. Following the AIDET model (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) is essential in your interactions with patients. You will also be expected to attend at least 50% of scheduled department meetings and be accountable for obtaining information from any missed meetings. Proficiency in the Cerner System is required, as you will troubleshoot problems with orders and make necessary corrections. Lastly, you will prepare the procedure room, select appropriate coils and monitoring equipment, and ensure that all physiological monitoring equipment is set up and maintained properly.
