As an MRI Technologist Relief at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality MRI radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This position requires a technical level of expertise that does not necessitate constant supervision, allowing you to exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing MRI procedures and adhering to appropriate protocols for diagnosis. You will be responsible for designated areas or procedures as required, ensuring that each patient receives the best possible care in a supportive and compassionate environment. Your responsibilities will include rotating emergency call status, contacting service engineers for assistance with system problems, and performing other related duties as deemed necessary by the Radiology Director. You will be expected to maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel to ensure the proper conduct of the department. Your role will also involve incorporating patient, physician, and customer needs into decision-making processes, which is essential for delivering whole-person care. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will be involved in patient care, which includes transferring and positioning patients, sometimes requiring lifting. You will initiate and assist in Code Blue procedures when necessary and ensure patient safety by following prescribed safety standards. Operating computer systems to input patient information and verify exams for the PACs System is also a key part of your role. You will participate in training new MRI technologists and maintain accurate records of each procedure and patient examination, including health forms and clinical information. You will be expected to follow the AIDET model (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) to enhance patient interactions and attend at least 50% of scheduled department meetings to stay informed about departmental updates. Proficiency in the Cerner System is required, as you will troubleshoot order problems and verify physician orders before conducting MRI exams. Additionally, you will set up and maintain all necessary physiological monitoring equipment and prepare the procedure room with the appropriate tools and supplies.
