About the position
The MRI Technologist will independently perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. This role works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. The technologist will coordinate patient flow and the activities of the MRI scanner, ensuring MRI safe practices are followed. Professional judgment is exercised in the performance of duties to maintain equipment in good working condition. The position may also involve performing procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs and may include on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media.
- Coordinate patient flow and activities of the MRI scanner.
- Ensure MRI safe practices are followed.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Exercise professional judgment in the performance of duties.
- May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.
- May have on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Medical Imaging Sciences including additional MRI physics coursework or completed within 6 months of hire.
- CPR Certification required.
- ARRT RT (R) or ARMRIT registry required.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Familiarity with American College of Radiology (ACR) MRI Safe Practice Guidelines.
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Knowledge of advanced MRI computer applications.
Nice-to-haves
- One year MRI experience preferred.
- MRI registry preferred.
- ODH licensure preferred.
