About the position

The MRI Technologist at Baylor Scott & White Health is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients as requested by physicians. This role involves ensuring high-quality imaging, maintaining safety protocols, and providing excellent patient care. The position is full-time with shifts primarily on weekends and includes a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilize AIDET when communicating with patients to ensure correct exam is performed and establish rapport.
  • Instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed.
  • Prepare patient and area for procedure by positioning patient and adjusting equipment controls.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements and infection-control policies.
  • Use proper sterile techniques when performing invasive procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
  • Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
  • Report issues to management or appropriate department.
  • Assist in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Screen individuals entering the department according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation for imaging procedures.
  • Maintain medical imaging records in accordance with department policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in MRI technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) or Radiography (ARRT-R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).

  • Ability to explain procedures and put patients at ease.
  • Experience in providing services in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform tasks autonomously without routine oversight.
  • Experience in administering first aid and using emergency equipment.
