About the position

We are seeking MRI Technologists (MRI Tech) for an immediate travel opening in Syosset, NY. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in the field. As an MRI Tech, you will play a crucial role in the use of magnetic resonance imaging technology, ensuring that the images produced are accurate and effectively communicated to physicians for medical interpretation. Your responsibilities will also include the preparation and care of patients undergoing MRI imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. In this position, you will be tasked with confirming patient identification, reviewing imaging requests, and explaining the imaging procedures to patients, providing reassurance and support as needed. It is essential to screen patients for MRI safety prior to performing any procedures. You will be responsible for correctly interpreting doctors' written instructions and positioning patients for MRI scans using immobilization and protective equipment, adhering to government regulations to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. Additionally, you will assist radiologists during procedure performance, start IVs, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol. Evaluating MRI scans for technical quality, collating processed images, and ensuring the sequence of exposure is labeled appropriately will also be part of your duties. You will need to load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration while following safety procedures when working with radiation. Maintaining accurate patient records and understanding how to use the McKesson PACS system are also critical components of this role.

Requirements

  • Must have 1 year of experience as an MRI Tech.
  • Must have BLS certification.
  • Must have AART National certification with registration in magnetic resonance imaging.
  • State-specific licensing when required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, lean, or stoop without difficulty.
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

  • ARRT(MR) certification
  • 2 years of experience in MRI technology
  • Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
