About The Position

The MRO Principal Stress Engineer at Collins Aerospace plays a crucial role in developing and substantiating innovative repair solutions for aircraft components, focusing on both metallic and advanced composite materials. This position involves engaging with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and implement repairs while also creating cost-effective repair techniques that enhance service delivery for major airlines and aviation customers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience or 5 years with an advanced degree, or 12 years without a degree.
  • U.S. Person status (citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee/asylee status).
  • Current or previous aerospace experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stress analysis of metallic and composite structures.
  • Familiarity with NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar analysis software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software.
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials and fabrication processes.
  • Experience in high volume communication with customers.
  • Nacelle stress analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to design and substantiate repairs for aircraft components.
  • Conduct structural analysis on complex scopes impacting business operations.
  • Perform static and fatigue analysis on metallic and composite structures.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to provide updates and address changes.
  • Offer technical support to production teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop processes for the repair and restoration of aircraft components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate with internal customers.
  • Create and improve stress standard work using lean principles.
