About the position

The MS BI Developer/Analyst position is a long-term hybrid role based in San Jose, California, focused on supporting data engineering and analysis for the Integrated Justice System and BI Platform Modernization projects. The role involves working with relational data modeling, report writing, dashboard design, and collaborating with development teams to ensure effective data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support data engineering and data analysis work for the Integrated Justice System and BI Platform Modernization projects.
• Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Map user interface fields to database fields to assist development teams.
• Write reports and design dashboards, ensuring effective data visualization and communication.
• Conduct peer reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Document processes, including knowledge capture and diagramming.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement workarounds and fixes.
• Communicate effectively with peers and stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in relational data modeling design and development.
• 5+ years of experience with Power BI Report Server and Power BI Service.
• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of CJIC and public safety and justice systems and associated datasets.
