About the position

The MS Music Teacher at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) is responsible for creating and implementing a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. This role involves developing lesson plans, establishing effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivating students to develop essential skills and knowledge. The teacher will adhere to the company's educational philosophy and objectives while striving to maximize the educational achievement of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies and maximizes time on task.
  • Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunity and provides real-world, application-based examples.
  • Reviews student records to understand each student's abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student using a variety of learning modalities.
  • Utilizes diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis and maintains accurate student records.
  • Assesses student strengths and weaknesses, provides appropriate activities, and generates progress reports as required.
  • Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
  • Coordinates class field trips as required.
  • Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing knowledge for curriculum improvement.
  • Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process and selection of instructional materials.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, maintaining positive rapport with students.
  • Ensures classroom cleanliness and safety, displaying student-generated work as appropriate.
  • Implements policies governing student conduct and develops reasonable rules of behavior.
  • Plans individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Participates in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
  • Incorporates diagnostic information from students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
  • Takes precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and materials needed for instruction.
  • Strives to establish cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and participates in parent communication activities.
  • Participates in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Command of grades/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the position and the mission of the company.
  • Possesses strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral, written, and active listening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Student Information System (SIS).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement best practices and positive character education.
