The MS Permanent Substitute at Charter Schools USA plays a crucial role in ensuring that students continue their education seamlessly in the absence of their regular teacher. The substitute teacher will follow lesson plans, manage student behavior, and maintain effective communication with school staff to support the mission of providing a high-quality education to all students.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
• Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Report daily activities in writing and provide feedback as requested by the principal.
• Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consult with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintain established routines and procedures in the classroom.
• Oversee pupil behavior in class and during school hours as requested.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.
• Maintain good relations with faculty and staff.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
• Completion of District's Substitute Workshop.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to the job and the company's mission.
• Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including active listening and negotiation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an educational setting as a substitute or teacher.
• Familiarity with school policies and procedures.
