About the position

The MS Science Teacher at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) is responsible for creating and implementing a flexible educational program that fosters student learning and personal growth. This role involves developing lesson plans, maintaining student records, and utilizing various teaching strategies to maximize educational achievement. The teacher will also establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, ensuring a supportive classroom environment that aligns with the company's mission of student greatness.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies and maximizes time on task.
  • Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunity and provides real-world, application-based examples.
  • Reviews student records to understand each student's abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student using a variety of learning modalities.
  • Utilizes diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis.
  • Assesses student strengths and weaknesses, providing appropriate activities to address needs and generating progress reports.
  • Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
  • Coordinates class field trips as required.
  • Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing knowledge for curriculum improvement.
  • Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process and selection of instructional materials.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, maintaining positive rapport with students.
  • Implements relevant policies governing student conduct and develops reasonable rules of behavior.
  • Plans individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Participates in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
  • Incorporates diagnostic information required in students' Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Takes precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and materials needed for instruction.
  • Strives to establish cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and participates in parent communication activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Command of grades/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Student Information System (SIS).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement best practices and positive character education.
