About the position

Trident Consulting is seeking a Microsoft SQL DBA for one of our clients located in Bethlehem, PA / Holmdel, NJ. This position is hybrid, with a preference for local candidates. The client is a prominent company in the insurance sector, dedicated to providing innovative and reliable insurance solutions to their customers. As part of the team, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to support and optimize critical database systems that are integral to the operations and customer satisfaction of the organization. The role requires a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience as an MS SQL Server DBA. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in MS SQL Server replication, always on, and mirroring, along with SQL coding and tuning experience. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation is essential, as well as experience with SQL Server Management Studio. A working knowledge of SSIS and SSRS is also required, along with experience in AWS/Cloud Services, specifically EC2, RDS, and Aurora Cloud deployments, as well as familiarity with Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Terraform. The candidate must be a hands-on, technically adept DBA capable of performing required database tasks, with strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. They should be able to assess and improve SQL performance and have a solid understanding of the MS SQL Server underlying storage engine. Responsibilities will include handling common database procedures such as upgrades, backups, recovery, and migration, as well as profiling server resource usage and optimizing as necessary. The role demands expert-level skills in MS SQL Server RDBMS installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking, tuning, backup, recovery, and remote monitoring, particularly in large and dynamic environments. A strong commitment to following SDLC and Change-Management principles is necessary, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate should also have knowledge of data quality, data management, and data testing strategies and practices, as well as strong communication skills, both oral and written. Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Zenoss, Foglight, or other monitoring tools, as well as cloud monitoring tools like CloudWatch and CloudTrail, is also required. The candidate should possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a keen analytical and structured approach to problem-solving, and the ability to accommodate flexible work schedules.

Responsibilities

Requirements
