The MSL (Medical Science Liaison) for the Mid-Atlantic region in Ophthalmology will play a crucial role in Astellas Pharma's mission to develop innovative therapies for patients. This position is designed for a professional who is passionate about scientific exchange and is committed to improving patient outcomes through effective communication and collaboration with key external experts (KEEs) and medical stakeholders. The MSL will be responsible for identifying and evaluating KEEs, ensuring alignment with the medical strategy, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout the product life cycle. This role requires gathering data from the field to generate valuable medical insights and delivering medical/scientific learning solutions to internal stakeholders. Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is essential, as the MSL will execute and support the development of tactical field plans for engaging with the medical and scientific community regarding Astellas products. In this role, the MSL will support the Director MSL Team Lead in deploying tactical field plans and managing overall business objectives. The MSL will also serve as a coach and mentor for other MSLs, fostering a collaborative environment by removing barriers to teamwork and sharing best practices. The MSL will represent Astellas at regional and national forums, conferences, and professional associations, ensuring that the Field-MSL perspective is included in cross-functional initiatives. Additionally, the MSL will take sole responsibility for developing scientific partnerships with both National and International KEEs, leading the deployment of tactical field plans for engagement with the medical/scientific community. The MSL will engage in scientific exchanges, sharing knowledge about Astellas products, disease states, and therapeutic areas to ensure their safe and effective use. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, as well as a deep understanding of the local healthcare environment and dynamics. The MSL will also support medical education activities and evidence generation to identify and address data gaps within the medical strategy.
