About the position

The MST ASM (Merchandising Support Team Assistant Store Manager) at Lowe's is responsible for leading a team of supervisors and associates in a retail environment, focusing on customer service, operational efficiency, and team development. This role involves setting clear goals, providing coaching and feedback, managing store operations, and ensuring a safe and clean shopping environment. The MST ASM also drives sales performance and oversees the execution of merchandising and pricing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, selects, develops and provides direct leadership over a team of supervisors and associates.
  • Models behaviors needed to deliver SMART customer service and maintain an in-stock position.
  • Sets clear and measurable service and operational goals for the team and tracks progress daily.
  • Connects with the team regularly to understand challenges and remove obstacles.
  • Provides recognition for effective behaviors and exceeding operational goals.
  • Manages performance of associates against established goals and addresses performance concerns.
  • Encourages open communication and empowers team members to make decisions.
  • Identifies associate relations concerns and takes appropriate action.
  • Drives execution of service, reset, pricing, and operational programs in assigned area.
  • Identifies barriers to superior service and communicates solutions timely.
  • Manages store opening and closing procedures and controls expenses including payroll.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry service, sales, and operational trends.
  • Identifies sales opportunities and gaps in inventory/merchandising.
  • Monitors the use of store power equipment and ensures safety compliance.
  • Drives a culture of safety, security, and shrink prevention throughout the store.
  • Provides full leadership over the store as Manager-on-Duty (MOD).
  • Walks the store to observe customer/associate interaction and provides coaching.
  • Ensures departments are properly staffed for customer traffic and shifts associates as needed.
  • Validates that aisles remain clean, safe, and free of clutter.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience leading associates in a retail environment.
  • 3 years of experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment.
  • 1 year of experience performing manager-on-duty responsibilities.
  • 1 year of experience directly managing a team of sales associates in retail or consumer service industry.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience in retail store freight flow logistics.
  • 5 years of experience leading service associates in a retail or consumer service industry.
