About the position

The Clinical Social Worker MSW at MarinHealth provides comprehensive clinical social work practice to patients with psychosocial and psychiatric needs, both inpatient and outpatient. This role involves psychotherapeutic intervention, psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, and discharge planning, all while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychosocial assessments and treatment to patients and families related to adjustment to illness and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide cultural, spiritual, and age-specific care.
  • Acts as patient advocate and resource regarding patient's needs including financial considerations.
  • Provides individual, family, and group therapy as appropriate to the setting.
  • Maintains effective communications with staff and attending physicians related to patient's psychosocial and psychiatric needs.
  • Collaborates with physicians, patients, families, and treatment team members in the development of the patient's plan of care.
  • Ensures proper content, application, and submission of required legal documents impacting patient care and treatment outcomes.
  • Maintains and provides current information and referral services to patients, caretakers, and families related to appropriate community resources.
  • Documents timely initial psychosocial assessment according to unit/department/program's standard of care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of social work or social welfare required.
  • Registered as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Prior work experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, especially in acute care hospital settings.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial aspects of illness, family systems theory, and effective treatment modalities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including the use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other IT applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with crisis intervention and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of government and private insurance benefits and the managed care system.
