About the position

PayPal, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying a federated development experience platform called Console that connects technology providers and consumers, enabling seamless creation, management, and discovery of application resources. Responsibilities include building and implementing software features using React, Graphql, Typescript, and Java, converting ideas and requirements into functional software while adhering to best practices of accessibility and internationalization. The engineer will code, test, integrate, document, and release software, ensuring performance and quality. Additional tasks include setting up cloud instances, enhancing deployment processes, onboarding extensions, and collaborating with various teams to define requirements and deliver solutions that address customer needs. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy a federated development experience platform called Console.
  • Build and implement software features for the platform using React, Graphql, Typescript, and Java.
  • Convert ideas, designs, and requirements to build the platform following best practices.
  • Code, test, integrate, document, and release software adhering to technical and quality standards.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Set up cloud instances of the services developed and enhance the deployment and release process.
  • Help onboard extensions in the console platform and assist extension developers.
  • Lead key initiatives involving instrumentation of data in PayPal's analytics system.
  • Collaborate with product owners, project and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver products.

Requirements

  • Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience with JavaScript and Typescript.
  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP.
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Java and Python.
  • Familiarity with Spring framework and Hibernate.
