About the position

The Multi-Craft Mechanic III position at Abbott involves performing routine and complex repairs and maintenance on production equipment within the Transfusion Medicine division. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency of diagnostic instruments and systems, contributing to the overall success of Abbott's healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on production equipment, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and fabrication.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and supervise the setup and improvement of business processes using project management and Lean principles.
  • Collaborate with the BPI team and peers across various regions including Europe, APAC, and the US/CALA.
  • Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and facilities.
  • Respond to alarm or trouble calls and maintain a strong floor presence as part of the maintenance team.
  • Troubleshoot production stop situations and implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Maintain good knowledge of production equipment and attend training to ensure consistent service.
  • Assist outside repair personnel in production areas as necessary.
  • Maintain records of work, inventory of spare parts, and provide necessary information to the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-year Mechanical/Electrical technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical filling, packaging equipment, and utilities.
  • Ability to make machine adjustments and time mechanical systems for proper operation.
  • Electrical/mechanical skills with utility systems.
  • Experience in machining or welding parts.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with pumps, motors, and drives.
  • Knowledge of precision tools/instruments.
