About the position

CBS Television KDKA Pittsburgh is seeking a passionate Multi-Media Journalist Reporter who is dedicated to impactful storytelling within the community. This role involves gathering news and information across various platforms, including TV, digital, and streaming, while effectively communicating and collaborating with a team of producers and managers. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and reporting skills, be a skilled interviewer, and have the ability to generate compelling enterprise stories.

Responsibilities

• Daily gathering of news and information for various platforms including TV, Digital and Streaming
• Effective communication in the field with story composition and live reporting
• Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
• Excellent news judgment and problem-solving skills
• Collaboration with a team of producers and managers
• Strong writing and reporting skills, with the ability to react to breaking news situations
• Skilled interviewing and creative storytelling
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit news stories
• Generating enterprise stories that are compelling and provide viewer benefit
• Building contacts in the community for developing impactful stories

Requirements

• College Degree preferred
• At least 3 years experience as an MSJ reporting in a commercial broadcast setting
• Proven experience generating enterprise or investigative story angles
• Knowledge of social media and experience writing for the web
• Familiarity with iNews rundown systems and Grass Valley Stratus, and Edius editing solutions preferred
• Experience with emerging media techniques and equipment in a newsroom setting
• Must be able to work all shifts

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with live reporting
• Knowledge of digital streaming news services
• Familiarity with community engagement and outreach
